How to get here:

Just a 13 minute drive from the Jinnah International airport in Karachi, the museum is easily reachable. The museum is located on Dr Ziauddin Ahmed road in the New Chali District. Alternatively, if you don’t mind a bit of a walk, then a bus is available at the airport which will take you within a 1.5km distance from the museum.

  • Established in 1950, the National Museum of Pakistan contains 11 galleries. One of its main features is the Quran Gallery which houses over 300 copies of the Quran including 52 rare manuscripts.

  • The museum also showcases different Islamic art and holds an impressive collection of old coins, some dating as far back as 74 Hijri during the Umayyad Dynasty’s rule. 

  • More recent artefacts include the pen, cuffs and sword of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the personal chair and pen of Allamah Iqbal, and the walking stick, watch and itr(perfume) bottle of Liaqat Ali Khan – personalities who were instrumental in the formation of the country of Pakistan.
