Al Noor Musjid
Al Noor Musjid
- Al Noor Musjid, located at 12 Hang Luoc, Hang Ma, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi, is the only musjid in northern Vietnam. Established over a century ago, it has long served as a spiritual center for both local Muslims and foreign visitors.
- In the early 19th century, Indian traders arrived in Vietnam for commerce, and by 1885, their growing community sought to fulfill their religious obligations by constructing the Al Noor Musjid. Officially completed in 1890, the musjid became an important place of worship for Muslims in the region.
- The musjid has faced numerous challenges throughout its history, including a forced closure from 1964 to 1973 due to the Vietnam War. Despite the conflict, the musjid was spared from any bombing or destruction, a notable fact in its long history.
- Its unique architecture combines Islamic design elements with local Vietnamese influences, making it a distinct and important landmark in Hanoi. Throughout the years, it has hosted many notable Muslim figures visiting the country and remains an active place of worship today.
