Arba-a Rukun Mosque
- The Musjid Arba’a Rukun is one of the oldest Islamic places of worship in Mogadishu. It was built around 667 AH (1260/1 CE), at the same time as the Fakr ad-Din Mosque. The mihrab of Arba’a Rukun has an inscription from that year, which commemorates the name of the Musjid’s founder, Khusra ibn Mubarak al-Shirazi (Khusrau ibn Muhammed).
- This Musjid, with its long history, is a significant part of Mogadishu’s Islamic heritage. The inscription in the mihrab not only dates the Musjid but also honors its founder, Khusra ibn Mubarak al-Shirazi, who played a crucial role in establishing this place of worship. The simultaneous construction of Arba’a Rukun and Fakr ad-Din Mosque highlights a period of religious and architectural development in Mogadishu during the 13th century.
- Arba’a Rukun stands as a testament to the city’s historical significance in the Islamic world, reflecting the rich cultural and religious history that has shaped Mogadishu over the centuries. The Musjid continues to be a place of worship and a symbol of the enduring Islamic tradition in the region.
