The Great Mosque of Algiers, Djamaâ El-Djazaïr, or Mosque of Algeria, is a Musjid located in Algiers, Algeria.
The Musjid was completed in April 2019.
It houses the world’s tallest minaret. It also houses an observation deck atop the minaret, which has 37 floors. The Musjid is designed to withstand an earthquake of magnitude 9.0 and the structure has been specially processed to resist corrosion.
It is the largest Musjid in Africa and the third largest Musjid in the world, capable of accommodating 120,000 worshippers. The Great Mosque of Algiers was built on geological terrain with superficial and deep sediments located on the eastern bank of Oued El Harrach and not far from the shore of the Bay of Algiers.
The Musjid also has a helipad.
