HERITAGE SITE | KERK STREET JUMA MUSJID

•  The Juma Musjid better known as the Kerk Street Musjid was the first Musjid in the Johannesburg region.

• It began as a simple, marquee-tent in 1870 and then developed over the years with subsequent renovations into a fully-fledged Musjid accommodating 1200 worshippers.

• The Musjid was declared a national monument by the National Monument Council “because of its historical, aesthetic and cultural value”.
