TOMB OF NABI HARUN AS
  • At the peak of Jabal Hārūn (also known as Mount Hor) and close to the city of Petra stands a small, cubed musjid with a beautiful white dome which is said to house the tomb of Nabi Hārūn AS.
  • Hārūn AS was the brother Mūsa AS and is believed to have been buried by him on this mountain peak. The actual mountain known as Jabal Hārūn stands at 1350m and is the highest in the Petra region. It has twin peaks with Hārūn AS purportedly buried on the higher one.
  • The musjid itself was built around the 14th century during the Mamluk Sultanate and is probably built upon an earlier structure.
