BURKAH SILWAN
- The area of Silwan lies just beyond the southern wall of the Haram al-Sharif in the Palestinian village of Wadi Hilweh. The area has been continuously inhabited for over three millennia, with a varied cultural and religious history throughout.
- The rock-cut pool that is found in this area is thought to date back to the time of Isa AS. It is believed that it was at this spot that Isa AS performed the miracle of restoring the sight of a man who was born blind.
- The pool is fed by the waters of the Gihon Spring, which is carried there via tunnels.
- It lay underground for many centuries and was only rediscovered in 2004 when excavation work for a sewer came across the rock pool.
