  • One of the early Muslims, Shurahbil Ibn Hasanah RA was a venerable Companion of the Prophet ﷺ and part of the second group to migrate to Abyssinia due to the intense persecution of the Quraish. Reputed for his strong faith, intelligence, bravery and sound military leadership, he was appointed as the commander of one of the four armies dispatched for the conquest The Levant. He actively participated in the Battle of Yarmouk and the conquest of Jerusalem.
  • In later years, Caliph Umar ibn Al-Khattab RA  appointed him as the governor of a province in Greater Syria, where he distinguished himself for his fair dealings with his subordinates.
  • He, like Abu Ubaydah and Mu’ath bin Jabal RA, passed away during the plague of Amwas and his grave is located at the Northern end of the Jordan Valley.
