KASHAN BAZAAR
- Kashan’s historic bazaar is one of the best in Iran. Described as being ‘large enough to surprise but not to get lost in’, it stocks a variety of goods ranging from traditional to modern.
- Amazingly, the site has been the centre of trade in Kashan for almost 800 years. It was originally built in the 10th century by the Seljuks and subsequent rulers made additions to it later on.
- Important landmarks in the bazaar include the Seljuk-era Musjid-e-Sultani and the 800-year-old Mir Emad Musjid.
- There is also a wealth of caravanserais, madrassahs and hammams (bathhouses) to explore within the bazaar and just around it.
- Amongst the many items that are on sale in the bazaar, Kashani biscuits are particularly popular and are regarded as one of the best in Iran.
