Santiago Central Mosque

Mezquita As-Salam is a Sunni Muslim Musjid located in Santiago’s Ñuñoa district, it holds the distinction of being Chile’s first Musjid. 
 Its construction began in 1988 under the guidance of Sheikh Taufiq Rumie’, a prominent leader of the Chilean Muslim community for over six decades.

The Musjid was completed in 1989 and officially inaugurated by a Malaysian prince in 1996.

The establishment of Mezquita As-Salam marked a significant milestone for Islam in Chile, providing a dedicated place of worship and community gathering for Muslims in the capital. Its presence has contributed to the growth and visibility of the Muslim community in the country.

Today, Mezquita As-Salam continues to serve as a central hub for Islamic worship and cultural activities in Santiago.
