ZAYD IBN HARITHA RA

ZAYD IBN HARITHA RA
  • Known as ‘Hibb al-Rasul’ (The Prophet’s ﷺ beloved), Zayd RA was the adopted son of the Prophet ﷺ and one of the first Muslims.
  • He originally came to the household of Muhammad ﷺ as a slave, but was set free very soon thereafter. Zayd RA stayed on with the Prophet ﷺ and they developed an amazing bond. Later on, he became one of Muhammad  ﷺ most trusted and reliable advisors.
  • He had the honour of being the only Companion mentioned by name in the Holy Quran and accompanied the Prophet ﷺ on every expedition – except when he was appointed to oversee Madinah in the Prophet’s ﷺ absence – until his passing in 8AH.
  • The Prophet ﷺ was informed by revelation of the passing of the three leaders and informed his companions accordingly while his eyes welled with tears in grief and sorrow. Thereafter the Prophet ﷺ personally went to Zayd’s RA house and gave his condolences to the family and was seen sobbing next to the little daughter of Zayd RA. When questioned about it, he ﷺ replied, “This is the yearning of the lover for the beloved.”
