  • The mountainous town of Taif lies approximately 90km east of Makkah at 1800 meters of altitude, in a valley on the eastern side of the Hejaz mountains.
  • Its focal Musjid is the famous Musjid Abdullah Ibn Abbas RA. It was built near the the grave of the great Companion of the Prophet ﷺ, Abdullah Ibn Abbas RA. He was the paternal cousin of the Prophet ﷺ, and is revered by Muslims for his knowledge and deep understanding of Islam.
  • According to some historians, this area also contains the graves of 11 other Companions who were martyred during the campaign of Taif in the year 8AH.
  • The Musjid is currently located in the heart of Taif and accommodates about 3,000 worshipers, where prayers, seminars and lectures are held.
