THE MOUNTAIN OF THAWR
- The Mountain Al Thawr (Jabal al-Thawr) is the mountain containing the cave in which the Prophet ﷺ and his companion Abu Bakr RA sought refuge for three days and nights from the Quraysh. This occurred during the Hijrah (migration) when they secretly left Makkah, emigrating to Madinah.
- With its small, low opening one can picture the spiders web that was spun over its entrance to protect the Prophet ﷺ during the Hijrah (migration).
- The Mountain of Thawr lies about 12km south of Musjid Al Haram and since it’s not as easily accessible as Jabal Al Nur(The Mountain of Light), its sees fewer pilgrims.
