THE MOUNTAIN OF THAWR

The Mountain Al Thawr (Jabal al-Thawr) is the mountain containing the cave in which the Prophet ﷺ and his companion Abu Bakr RA sought refuge for three days and nights from the Quraysh. This occurred during the Hijrah (migration) when they secretly left Makkah, emigrating to Madinah.
With its small, low opening one can picture the spiders web that was spun over its entrance to protect the Prophet ﷺ during the Hijrah (migration).
The Mountain of Thawr lies about 12km south of Musjid Al Haram and since it’s not as easily accessible as Jabal Al Nur(The Mountain of Light), its sees fewer pilgrims.
